If you don't record is there really a need for pro tools if you have the stand alone editor. What different uses do you guys employ pro tools besides home recording? Thanks.
If you don't record, then you're right, there isn't a need of ProTools, or any other DAW for you.
Personally, I own and operate a small project studio. I collaboratively record on projects all over the country, and also do mobile recording.
Other folks here record as a hobby. Still others may record so that they can become better pickers and chronicle their progress.
If a person happens to be on an older version of Pro Tools, now is the time to upgrade to 11. After this version, all future upgrades will only be possible through a maintenance or subscription method.
