Shouldn't I be able to plug a simple MIDI keyboard into the 11R and transmit midi data to my computer? Will the data from the 5-pin DIN "MIDI in" on the 11R go out through the MIDI USB port to the computer?
I can't find any settings on the 11 to change besides midi tx which is set to omni/all.
All I can find about MIDI and the 11r is footcontroller info which I have working fine. At home the 11 is basically my sound card for learning songs,recording but also listening to any music on my computer. I must be missing something very basic...

What are you using for sounds? Onboard leyboard, or a program, like Reason? Is it just a MIDI controller? Does your keyboard have USB?

Using free VST's in Reaper. I got it to work by using another interface in addition to 11R. Keyboard is a MIDI out only controller I got in the 90's, no USB. Thanks for the reply!

Yes should work. The setting for midi should be done in your host software (protools or reaper in your case).

I did this in my 11R days with my son's electronic drumset and everything was running good.
I can't remember if there was a parameter that needs to be enabled in the 11r preferences for midi through.
