I know this is the 11r forum and I do still have mine but haven't used it since I got my helix... Helix has come a long way with firmware up dates since it's inception, people are getting some great tones out of it. the metal tones this guy is getting is sweet. here is what he says, you might be surprised...

I put together a video of a song I recently did using the Helix for all the guitars and bass tracks. The patches use the 5150 and Uberschall for the hi gain rhythms, the jazz chorus for the cleans, and the SVT for the bass. The lead patch is the Line 6 Epic model. Everything was recorded via S/PDIF into a Zoom UAC-8.

Thanks folks. Not the first time I have heard the Ozzy comment.

Definitely getting great sounds out of the Helix. After having owned a Axe FX II (twice) I will say that sound wise the Helix is on par and the ability to load impulse responses for cabs is great. Heck at this point even the VST plug ins are great like Amplitube, TH3, and S-Gear.

I may end up using the Helix for a vocal processer for the band I sing for. Not yet completely decided but all the effects are in there for it.

Thanks for the info. I bought a POD HD Pro X a year or so ago, and it's literally a $700 paperweight. It has some features that I wish the 11R would incorporate, but the 11R kills it when it comes to tone. My experience with the POD HD Pro X makes me flip the page in the Sweetwater catalog every time I come to the Helix. I don't think I'll retire my 11R any time soon, but I have been eyeballing a Kemper Profiler. I've been on the waiting list for an Axe FX II XL for so long, I've literally given up. Maybe I'll give the Helix an unbiased look, if it's possible.

Sounds legit. Jazz clean was always my favorite, but now the heavier sounds are a lot better for sure with whatever guitar/pickups he's using, anyway. Drums and Vocals are great on this too. Bass is really tight and sits well with guitars, but maybe a little too tight to really hear their bottom end...which is usually never a problem with Line 6 stuff from what I can remember, just observing.
