My son's using the Eleven Rack now (got annoying being at my desk all the time recording, so set up a half way decent dell computer for recording in his room) and I just have my Toneport and an overdrive, so I was thinking I should try out some amp sims again, but with the Maxon OD and it's a lot like using it with the Eleven Rack. I have to use the software noise gate pedal, but I could tell right away I could start messing around with some things and getting some tones.

Just thought I'd share...if you have to go cheap, the Maxon is a great tone shaping tool to keep around. With a Toneport or other El Cheapo USB guitar recording interface, and a laptop, it would be very easy to jam out of a grocery sack and a laptop case or briefcase and work on projects (you're still only saving the DIs so can always reamp later if needed).
