I am hunting a tone in the 11R and not having much luck, perhaps those better at this than I (Which is pretty much everyone here) can help with or point me in the right direction.

I have a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive that I dearly love for it's ability to mix distorted and clean signals. I use it to add just the faintest hint of dirt to a tone. I can crank the gain to get a hugely distorted tone and then blend that at say 80% wet to 20% dry signal out to the amp. Is there a way to achieve a similar effect with just the 11R? Or am I just nuts and gonna hafta stick with yet another pedal to do this?

Thanks all!

The '89 SL100 Clean amp is a great one for the kind of sound you're going for I think. Maybe try playing around with the White Boost also and turn the gain & volume down. '93 MS-30 is underrated for it's "just right" slight tube breakup sound too I think. Just threw together a quick patch with the white boost, SLO Clean, 4x12 Green 25/DYN 7 off axis and liking that alot without any EQs or anything, but a graphic EQ before the amp boosting the mids & highs kinda opens up the gain a bit more for my tastes.

With the MS-30, the 4x10 Super Reverb sounds great, again for my taste and feel. I like to put the True Z on 1Mohm too rather than auto.

Do you set the True-Z this way in general?

Depends, some work better with 230k 0hm, usually more gainy amps (and they will default to that, but some default to it and I don't like it).

I either use auto or change it to 1M 0hm and see if I like it better that way and then decide.

That's pretty much what I am doing now but I was just wondering if there's a way to replicate the overall effect of the Sparkle Drive and free up the loop for other things.
