Great to see how you create those Singtall presets. Very helpful. Keep them coming man!

Nice. I think people need more things like this rather than just using patches and not understanding how to make them.

That rolled off tone at the beginning sounded excellent. Do you find the AxeFX better at that than Eleven Rack or Atomic Amplifire?

Man, that's like asking which is better. A Ford P/U, A Chevy P/U, or a Dodge P/U. Everyone has a preference and every one of them has it's strong points! I'd certainly love to hear Singtall's POV on that question myself.

Haha not really "what's better" overall, but the rolled off tones...they're all pretty good, but that really got my attention when he did that. Was very realistic sounding, not just cleaned up, was pretty awesome, and guessing there's a cetain feel. Most guys get the Axe FX and get their metal tones or high gain, hardly ever show off the mid gain classic rock tones.

believe it or not.....the eleven rack does a great job of cleaning up (when using certain amp models). i did some EVH presets for the 11R and plenty of them will do the roll off/clean up trick easily.

amps that do it well: jcm800, plexi, bogner, soldano.

why? because of the power tubes.

how to make it happen: crank the master volume wide open, adjust gain to taste.

when you crank the master volume, the power tube distorts and adds compression plus midrange. if you dial some of the midrange back out you will get the pleasant surprise of having a clean chimey tone when the guitar volume is rolled back.

there is a fine line between compression and mids that most people like to tinker with. adjust the master volume between 6-10 to change the compression and added mids. really, once you pass 6 it's all compression and added mids and not so much the distortion. you have to find what sounds good to you.

what i like to do is this: crank up the master volume and adjust gain and tone to taste. then i roll back my guitar volume until it cleans up. if it doesn't clean up then i have too much gain for rhythm work anyway...so i back the gain down and try it again. once it cleans up then i adjust the tone to make my clean tone sound good. if you already have the mids at 5 or less then you will end up with a pretty good clean tone.

this tip alone has made me money from tweaking pro's live rigs.

Nice, thanks for that explanation, Ross.

I used the soldano for this very reason almost exclusively.
