Hey guys,

I am going to buy an AltoTS112A for connecting my 11R direct during gigs and rehersals. From what I can tell, 12" is enough but the store has a 15" bstock with the same price. Is it worth taking the 15" or is it not worth the hassle (weight and maybe eq'ing if there is too much bass)?

When I compared the EV zlx12p to the zlx15p I felt I liked the responsiveness of the smaller speaker, but I didn't do any controlled tests. I haven't felt like I am missing any bass, though most of the shows I play I use it as a monitor and not as a PA speaker.. I do like that it is smaller and lighter!

Thanks for your reply. I dont know if this may sound mad but since i read that the altos are pretty accurate, would it make sense to also use them as studio monitors? ( i dont do mixing for a living, only for fun)

as long as you aren't doing critical mixing then the Alto's are fine.

When I was buying FRFR's at GC the rental guy told me his Alto 15's broke down a lot but the 12's where rock solid. I have an Alto 10 for duo I'm in and it's flat like my Jbl prx12's but the Jbl's are more articulate. I also have EV ZLX 12's too. Good for program material but I hate them for guitar monitoring. They are very scooped sounding and the dsp isn't much help..

One of the members of my tribute band is likely getting a couple of the TS 210A for some little acoustic solo gigs he does on occasion. He has borrowed my pair of 110A a couple of times and really liked them. Re the 210A, I'll tell you what I told him - try them first. Compare them to the 110A, if you can. Based on very early comparisons it MIGHT be that the 210A sounds brighter and more harsh.

Hey there. I ended up buying the old one cause I had a gig coming up so I could not wait. So far I am not disappointed smile the sound does not translate 100% into recording so I ended up tweaking my recorded sound a little but other than that i am happy smile

I'm glad you like them. I, too, am a fan, despite that these are considered 'low-end' speakers. What that means for me is that I'm more than getting my money's worth. I have, and regularly use, a pair of TS110A and a pair of TS112A. They're used for guitar monitoring on occasion, and sometimes as FOH for small gigs, but usually as band monitors, for which they excel.

For what it's worth, the friend mentioned in my previous post recently purchased a pair of the TS210A and he's using them tonight for, I believe, the first time in a fairly large hall. According to him they are seriously powerful. I guess I'll learn more in the coming days as to whether they sound as good as he'd hoped.
