I like the mix, but I personally just like the bass to be nice & snappy & centered more instead of "full."

The only way I ever get that sound from people's bass tracks is to double it and hi pass one & boost 400Hz & 8kHz a bit and add something like Soundtoys Radiator & an SSL channel plugin or something. I like the SHB-1 VST too. My son uses a Sansamp plugin that keeps the DI sound and blends in the new one. If I recorded as much as you do, I'd go the extra mile and find the actual pedal that does that. Both of those are free if you use Cakewalk anyway. Sometimes you have to make a lot of noise to get it to sound organic.

Someone also showed me a trick he did where he just finger slapped guitar on top of the bass & was one of the best bass sounds I ever heard so I was surprised about that. Same concept though, you usually just have a dry bass DI and can shape the one to be a bit snappier and use the original one to get that 69Hz fullness and rolloff the rest if it's already got a lot of presence.

Your songs are playing through in Soundcloud and you nailed a killer bass sound in "GreenMystedEnvy" on the riffs right before (leading into) the clean/ambient parts, but that's the only time I noticed it. Something like that is what I like but maybe cut the highs on the original and do that double track trick so it's just in there a little. "InPresenceOf" it's a bit too much, for reference. Actually, sounds like most of your older songs have that snappy kinda bass I like. I know you want to improve on that, but don't discount trying to get back into that ballpark of bass tone again with the new bass.

I want to hear like some Racer X, Symphony X, Jeff Loomis style bass because that's your musical style and not a lot of people can even do what you do so try and keep it like that or something in between what you have now & that which would be more like a Symphony X kinda sound that's just right and you can selectively listen to and hear all the bass runs and things but are still big enough for the song.

I like Felipe Andreoli's bass sounds too. He goes through some snappy clean & distorted tones on this to reference. He tells the engineer to blend the two channels together here, but it's cool to hear all the crazy sounds that are happening for the one he ends up needing. They get a sound, then the engineer wants more high end. "Needs."

Around 10 minutes, they get closer to "that" sound finally haha

Dude, thanks for all that really.

I thought greenmystedenvy wasnt all that bass wise. It was the first time i recorded with the yamaha and i thought it was too floppy.

Ill try something with the same preset tomorrow to see. I swear, id buy a setup just for bass if i knew what it was..

Not sure where you can buy this, but Felipe posted a video of the pedal he uses. I wish I understood Portugese. It's got some cool dual EQ, clean & dirty blending & things.

Their web site is http://www.nigmusic.com.br/pedals/

Other option is the Sansamp Bass Driver, which sounds a lot like that & would probably do the job & there's a free plugin based on it also you could use right on your current track: http://www.tseaudio.com/software/tseBOD

I think I am close to that now. I have a few things to try with the bass. I've always tried to get away with just one bass track in my mixes.
I am going to work a DI in as a second track to keep the fat part of the tone while enhancing the high's a bit.

The GreenMystedEnvy bass tone was done with my usual bass tone but I added the Protone attack and cranked up the Tone knob a bit.

In any case, this pedal is very similar to the SANSAMP Tech 21 pedal.

But the thing with Bass, is unless you playing JAZZ the tones you hear these guys get don't sit well in the mix. You have to crank the distortion a bit to get it to sit, not get muddy and bring out the mids/highs.

Totally frustrating.
