FINALLY! The Protone Attack overdrive is usable!

Quick history, I ordered the protone attack after seeing Misha's review on youtube on Dec 11, 2014. The company didn't see my address in the paypal payment so it sat there until Dec. 21st when I inquired. They sat on shipping from 12/21 until Jan 10th when they send USPS the label. It arrived at my house 1/20! And guess what, they require a special 9v power adapter to work so I had to order that. Guess what? The power led on the pedal doesn't work! WTF...

Anyway, on to the sound, its good, cleans up the distorted track quite well, and sits in the mix perfectly. So was it worth the wait? I'll let you guys be the judge...

By the way,
The chain on this one was: Schecter Hellraiser 7 custom -> Protone -> 11R -> Epsi in FX Loop -> PC

Definitely has a color to it kinda like the Behringer TO800 (to me that was a nice overdrive color, was nice & smooth). The first song got some bite in it whatever you did and that was a lot like I would expect it to be, the rest is kinda on the vintage sounding OD side of the fence. I think personally, your playing is best without it on the leads because you have great technique and dynamics & it kind of takes that away a bit, but it's great on the riffs especially on the first track. I'd like to hear some low gain sounds because I'm guessing they'll be great with that vintage kinda color you were getting/dialing on the second track mostly.

I like what Misha did in his demo with the low gain neck pickup "using the pedal as a traditional overdrive." Now I want one haha Lots of sounds you can dial up.

Yeah I watched that video to dial in the second tone. Honestly, I can't recommend it for the price.
I think the stock 11R effect sounds just as good.
Now I need a noise gate to throw in front of the OD. ugh...

Sounds like you got a good thing going with it now. My son got a TS9 for Christmas and really likes that over my Maxon but he plays heavy stuff like you do through Eleven Rack. He also prefers not using the EPSi & just really simple OD>JRC>11 amp/cab type settings. All of these pedals tighten things up & make it a lot better for laying tracks.
