it's a certain high end frequency more than anything else that gives a brittle high end. the eq i'm doing doesn't kill all of the highs, but it does smooth out that frequency that i'm talking about.

Will check this out later...I noticed with my new guitar, there's almost a high rolloff effect due to the pickups, but I was trying to figure out just what it actually would take to get the Ownhammer tones since I was actually boosting a lot of frequencies whereas the Eleven Rack cabs already had a lot of cut through ones, but just needed some rolloff and tweaking here & there. A couple of cabinets sounded just right, but I never got into using them too much since I had the EPSi this time. Always good to have more than one type of color...now I wonder what it would be like to use 11R cabs on a track and Ownhammer IRs on another, or even blend them in through reamping or something.

Thanks for the excellent post!

Are all your presets referenced to studio monitors, or some other FRFR setup? I'm assuming that the actual 11R rig has a role to play in the tone? I would also assume that a lot of the superpack presets will be guitar dependent...

all of my presets are made to be played thru a full range system, be it studio or live.

i make presets to work with a variety of guitars, but some tweaking of presets may be needed if you have a guitar that is too far from the norm.

i just found out that there is a glitch in the eleven rack editor. i used the editor to come up with those eq settings and it sounds right, but if you enter the same settings from protools or from the front panel then the tone will vary.

i caught a note from Benoni on another forum about this issue:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0LUa9C_zb4

i'll have to check out the actual settings from the front panel to verify.

if you are using the 11R front panel or protools, change the Q to .2 instead of .7.

This is great info. I spent my first month with my Eleven Rack getting something that worked and was successful. This eq. tip is awesome, threw it on a Treadplate then an SL 100 that I could not bond with and it does soften the harshness right away.
Thanks!
I also modified my Q setting as I am not using this with any editors. Taking 4 off the value worked for me.
Thanks.

I really liked this. My hands have been killing me from work or I'd be trying some stuff out. There's a really good presence and balance going on. Sounds real & organic. The cleans are really great.
