According to the website, all you need is the serial number of your 11 rack.. This is from their website:

Q. I have Pro Tools LE. Can I move up to Pro Tools?
A. Yes. For a limited time, you can crossgrade to Pro Tools 11 for only $199 through 2014—that’s over 50% off the previous crossgrade pricing, and includes an upgrade/support plan for one year. To take advantage of this limited time offer, simply provide a hardware serial number (not your Pro Tools LE authorization code) for one of the following Avid audio interfaces at the time of purchase and activate your Pro Tools 11 software by December 31, 2014:

Mbox family (3rd generation)—Mbox Pro, Mbox, Mbox Mini
Eleven Rack
003 family—003 Rack, 003 Rack+, 003 (control surface)
Mbox 2 family (2nd generation)—Mbox 2 Pro, Mbox 2, Mbox 2 Mini, Mbox 2 Micro
Digi 002 family—Digi 002 Rack, Digi 002 (control surface)
VENUE family—VENUE | SC48, VENUE FWx Option Card

YES

When you buy Pro Tools it is a multiple platform program. Meaning you get BOTH the Mac and the PC installers. Just download the one you want to install.

I currently run PT on both Mac and PC... You just move the the iLock from one to the other.

there is a pretty comprehensive tutorial for protools hd on creativelive.com. is there a significant difference between hd and protools 11 that would make this tutorial irrelevant to learn from.

Not having seen the tutorial in question, I would say that any tutorial covering Pro Tools 11 HD would be able to apply to Pro Tools native (non-HD) as well.

The major differences between HD and Non-HD would be in the areas of track count, available voices, video, surround mixing, VCAs etc.

The basic functionality is the same. Take a look at this link for more details. Pro Tools Comparion between HD and NON HD

yes, as long as you have the old license to surrender on the ilok..if you're upgrading to 10/11 (you get both if you buy 11) you'll need an ilok 2. when you upgrade and go to your download page you get the choice of which version, mac, pc, win 7 or 8 etc. you can install pro tools on as many pc's and macs as you like at the same time, it'll only work on any one of them at a time as it needs the ilok
