Starting to learn what I like other than "that one called X_XX_XX" now...specifically for me what sounds good with the Eleven Rack.

Good to me should be nice & full, and it's been hard to find those. I see in the filenames SS, T1, and T2.

To cut to the chase, the mics am focusing on are the 57 and 421 because they contrast well together in a mix. But the impulses that feel right aren't the first ones in alphabetical order. More like the last for the 57's and the first for the 421's. The 57's marked T1 are actually the ones I like out of the SS/T1/T2...the 421's I like are the SS (first in order).

From the Modern Studio Mix (412-GTR_MAR-CB_MIX/WAV/44100-Hz_Stereo/ALN-BLU which is the first alphabetically), I tried out all the 421's & 57's. Some of them just don't work at all for me, but the ones that do are GREAT.

Anyway, I'm dead set on the 421 SS & 57 T1s and just wanted to say definitely try them out as they got a lot more frequencies you can play with.

I used a few of these impulses in this along with my favorite Live & Studio mix, and wanted to get to the bottom of which 4 mics I actually want to be using for quad tracking. I still need to just go for mics and not Live & Studio impulses, but it helped when I needed something different and had too many similar impulses.

The ones with the 421 & 57 definitely are the meat of this sound & I think I'm going to load them all on the EPSi and use those from now on unless I'm just jamming around.

I still wish they had a better sorting system, but I thought I'd say what I personally am liking. You can hear a 421 on the left at the end of this clip & it made me have Deja Vu of recording with one in the 90's. These are very realistic to me & I'm loving having some realistic sounding mic'd cabinets with Eleven Rack more & more each day. I mixed this with ATK M40fs & will come through nice & full on consumer headphones/speakers, but it is a little "bigger" before mastering of course. I wanted to have something to track with I can feel. To me that's the most important thing as a guitarist.

On the track I used the Alnico Blue and Scumbacks, but then I discovered that there's some cool 421 & 57 sounds for each speaker. So many to sift through, that I've been skipping to the next speaker if I don't like the first few.

Today I was trying a mono vs stereo file comparison and the stereo ones sound more realistic to me, so I would recommend always using the stereo ones unless you record tracks in mono.

My favorite speakers are pretty much these: Alnico Blue, Chinese V30s, Scumbacks. But I'm going to go through them all again to be sure. Those speakers are definitely not in the Eleven Rack with this quality & feel, anyway.

Same here, though the others will pop up from time to time as being incredibly fitting for a part, it's the above listed for general use..

the Chinese V30's and Scumbacks are my favorites too. i tend to like the mixes the best, not any single microphone. when i recorded in a big money studio back in the 90's, they used 3 mics on my cabinet to capture it's true sound and it sounded much better than any one mic that i have ever tried. i'm glad than Ownhammer did some of those same type of mixes.
