This is REALLY cool. Listen to the tubes and speakers he's using and try and see what you like. You can just change tubes without worrying about biasing or messing up.

Yep, I've had it for awhile now and I love the sounds you can get with it. When I read what you were looking for I said, "He's describing the H&K TM36", lol.

One thing to keep in mind is how we all hear music in such a different way, just because I love it doesn't mean that you may think it sounds like a "tin can" laugh but from every thing you said you needed, I believe this can deliver it for you.

Here's some pix and info that might be helpful:

If this isn't what you're looking for I'm sure more of the family orange members will offer more suggestions.

Best of luck and please let us know what you finally find that works for you.

i had a valveking head, and i got rid of it because it just sounded muddy with my speakers. speakers are everything when it comes to amps. you have to have a good match or you get blah sound.

i was using the valveking with celestion G12T-75's and it was pretty bland and muddy. V30's should do the trick.

I've got the perfect amp for your sir, the Bray 4550 Deluxe

It has a "Wife Knob" which is a PPIMV master volume, and it does NOT loose any tone at all...even at whisper quiet volume! And if you want, this amp will friggin ROAR too! smile

David Bray will build the amp for you. He called me up and asked me a ton of questions to help him dial in the tone of the amp & taylor it to suit my needs and desires.

Here is the youtube video of the actual amp that he made for me.
This was the soundclip that I approved for the build. David is an awesome guy too!

Without doubt the best sounding rock amp I've heard in a LONG time.
