I'm at Detroit Metro & waiting to board Delta flight DL2050 to LA!
I can see ya now X-ster, knocking back a few drinks on the plane...

Well, somebody on the 11R facebook page says that Avid isn't planning on any new firmware or updates for the unit. Not sure if that's accurate or not simply because he posted this up a couple days ago.
LOL! Yes, I'm hearing that Avid is indeed displaying the 11R but nothing other then that at this point. I wouldn't say we should be very optimistic at this point!

On the Avid Audio Forum there's already a user thread started saying No New Avid Guitar Products at NAMM. However, their hoping something gets announced in the next 2 days. Don't hold your breath!

NAMM started off bad.....The plane left an hour & a half late.....Strong headwinds made us even more late.........I didn't get in & get my bag till 8PM........I wanted to be at the Steve Stevens party at 8PM sharp.......
I get into the late shuttle & it's almost full.......I get the 2nd to last seat......& then a couple tries to get on.......She sits next to me & he is going to sit next to the driver......I say "Sit together" & I get out & get in the front.......
The couple are very happy & really seem to appreciate it......The guy starts to talk & ask me questions......Why am I here, am I playing NAMM etc...etc...etc...
I thought this guy was a bass player based on how he was dressed & his large guitar case............
I menton Steve Stevens & he says that he's played with him.....& that he played on the Hendrix tour.........
So finally I'm like "what's your name"?
& he replies....."My name is Eric Gales"!
I laughed that I didn't recognize him at first.......We talk for a 1/2 hour & he tells me "Come to the Two Rock booth Friday at noon" & he'll take care of me!
I still have no idea what that means........
Here's a pick of my new buddy & I........He's one hell of a nice guy along with being a stellar player too!!
Well I guess that says it all folks as far as 11R news is concerned! There is none!
Afraid so.... Was hoping but in my heart, I knew. I think Avid seen the writing on the wall with companies like Axe FX, Kemper dominating the market in high end. Oh well, hey, lets enjoy it, it's still sounds and works great. I'm extremely happy with it, and with all the info and patches from you guys here. I haven't had my long but it won't be long, and I'll have some presets to post. Hope everyone likes them.
& better.....With my new buddies (Amp Builder) Dave Friedman & Diego Val from "The Voice".......
This guys got some singing chops & is one hell of a cool guy to hang with too!!!!
DAMMIT YOU DOG! I want an amp from Mr. Friedman so bad, I would consider doing things a normal/straight man wouldn't DARE admit too!

This is the nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned regarding future development from Avid for the 11R!
It is possible Avid may let someone else take over further development. I think one of the guys who had a major hand in it's development, is now gone and opened his on business, in the same field. Who knows? I think a lot of Eleven users will now move on to another processor. Actually, that might make a good poll question.
I agree. I'd be really pissed if I recently purchased one since I'm sure this will cause a number of people to sell and cause the price to plummet. People just aren't gonna invest their money in a dead product that is going to quickly fall by the wayside because of newer improved technologies!

Might as well just grin and bear it..we are fucked. You cannot give them away now. Fuck AVID in their peehole with a hot poker. Sorry f'er's..I hope they seriously go out of business..
Agreed, it would have been nice to at least get some updates from these guys. Freaken party animals! LOL Seriously, there is really nothing to report! Avid released nothing new for the 11R, period!

Here's my quick 11R/Avid update: (Insert Crickets chirping noise here)
I'm talking with them today, but I don't expect much if anything at all....
I've been 100% distracted by my 1st NAMM appearance.....Lots of Stars, gear, girls, concerts, demos & long talks with my favorite players......oh & Epic cleavage/boobs......now add a lot of wheat beers, fish tacos & I've only slept 4-hours in 2-days so far......
I thought that I might get a picture or two with a few cool players.......but I didn't think I'd be able to talk to them & spend so much time with them......I have about 20-long stories that I can't even comprehend right now......You guys kind of know me....& well...I put myself out there & sometimes that gets some results......
Here's a few of the distractions I had to face yesterday....Stories to follow later.....& today is gear testing/picture day......
This meeting was EPIC & then some for me.....
& then I did this.......
I got to meet & hang-out & talk to Blues Saraceno (& his Dad) for almost an hour.....He signed all the stuff I brought & invited me to his demo....That I've got ALL on video too......The 2nd coolest thing that's happened at NAMM so far.....
& this guy was the best.....Hanging with Greg Howe was da bomb!!! What a nice dude too!
Oh look....There's a booth I should visit.....
I could do this ALL day.....I've go SO many more photos.....The ones with Neil Zaza are jaw dropping & that meeting left me shacking......I've NEVER met someone SO COOL & kind & HUMBLE......Yea....HUMBLE & he's an actual star w/ a long detailed history too......
Was gonna make a thread.. but saw this thread.. figured I'd post this here... Okay.. so not a ton of pics to upload.. just don't have the time .. BUT I thought I'd share this.. day one.. I go straight to Avid.. I meet a company rep there named Jon.. I explain and rant about all of our frustrations with 11R and the lack of support.. I start to blister him pretty good.. I find out that he's is equally as frustrated and really starts to let his own company have it for a bit.. then I see these..
and I'm like "THAT's a GREAT step in the right direction.. blah blah..".. he bows his head and says.. yeah.. we're not doing those either...lol.. Avid has had 3 big waves of layoffs.. he wasn't happy about that.. he said that now their so understaffed that things are on a wheel and whatever is top priority at the time is what gets everyone gets put on.. like right now.. its obviously ProTools.. he promised that they WILL get back on 11R and sooner than later.. So I'm still hammering this guy and he's agreeing and apologizing.. and then he points to a guy and says; "if you REALLY want to stand up for 11R.. there's that guy there.. he's the CEO of AVID" (Gary or Gerry.. this all happened kinda fast lol).. so I go.. THANKS.. and he's like.. you're really going over there?.. too late.. I was already there.. he was leaving the booth and I stopped him.. I told him about this place and ElevenHack and how much guys here with no real programming knowledge had been pushing this thing to new places WITHOUT his help.. and that we REALLY love this thing and don't want it to die or be replace.. I wound up getting about 30 minutes of his time and he PROMISED that they will NOT be letting 11R die and he too apologized for how long its taken, etc.. he didn't go into the whole thing about the lay offs like the other guy.. but he did say their resources were stretched incredibly thin.. They were talking about putting a sign on the display cabinets for 11R to let folks know that they WEREN'T new product and were only for NAMM display.. b/c everytime someone came to the 11R; they'd see those cabs and ask about when the cool stuff was coming..lol. **my photo is showing up in the preview and NOT in the post for whatever reason.. here's a link: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v193/M...16528FB1F72.jpg

Thanks for your effort Kevin, it's really appreciated! Honestly though, it's the same old, same old, they've been spouting off for a good 1 1/2 years now! It's really hard to believe them anymore! As far as X-Mann is concerned he's a lost cause at this point! Can you say star struck! LOL

Damn! I've wanted to go to NAMM for years, and I could go as an endorsing artist (which would give me access to any "off-limits-to-the public"/"artist" sections), but keep forgetting about it until it's too late to arrange, or if I remember, can't make the trip.
Anyway, I have a friend who's there, and I had asked him, if he had a chance, could he visit the Avid booth and buttonhole them about it? His message to me this morning was that he'd talked to "the Eleven designer" (his words) and they'd said basically "what the hell else do you want?", and that, while there's no update right now, they're "apparently" gathering feedback from users to see if one is needed. I replied "have they not been reading their "user request" forum (meaning IdeaScale)?
So there you have it. Unless they're going to spring a top-secret announcement at the end of the show, I'd say 11's dead.

Honestly, they just continue to lie to us! It's obvious they have no further intention of developing the 11R ! So then, why can't they just make the source code for the 11R available to the community once and for all! I'm personally really getting turned off to Avid via this whole fiasco!

Hmmm, this kinda sums it up over at the Avid Audio Forum. This was in regard to a statement asking Avid to release the source code for the 11R since they're not doing anything further with it.
Posted by user Moff: I've said the same thing myself, but we all know that's not going to happen - Avid's all about proprietari-ness and restrictive licensing (requiring iLok, and/or hardware<->software tie-ins). I think the 11R is done, but they'll probably milk it as long as they can (or maybe sell through existing supplies before "officially" discontinuing it). If they discontinue while there's still inventory in the retail channel, the demand will plummet and so will prices.

Thank you Kevin for the report. Well, it seems hat we are on our own for the futur of the device.
Well, I got mine 3 or 4 monthes ago, It was an amazing device with - very good amp and effects, - very simple user interface with the right level of complexity, - tons of very high quality rigs made by really talented guys (much better that what I can do myself), - a friendly community that welcome newbies.
It has not changed in 4 monthes, the orange box is still amazing.
Knowing that AVID has no plans, no vision for the device motivate me to help contributing to it's future by providing a tool for rig exchange.
I could also provide data and maybe some script to Jason, if he want to enhance the site with search by amp or given effect for instance. It would be also possibe to organize preset banks by themes (I will provide bank load/save just after the Mac save rig fix).
Awesome, can't wait for the videos. Man I wanted to go so bad, but this will do. Lot of cool shots on Instagram, but X-Mann has got the best ones right here haha.
All this reminds me of the exact situation I had with my gsp 1101 and lack of support from Digi. Got rid of the gsp 1101 all together just for that very lack of support. Fortunetly, the 11R is leagues ahead of where I was with the 1101, infact not even comparable in sound, and since the advent of 11hack, the unit is definetly worth holding on to.
This forum I believe is what will keep the 11R "alive", and who knows what amazing things that the brilliant minds in this forum may uncover or unlock in the future.
Ok.....Major 11R update coming in 20 minutes or so.......In the end it wont change anything, but maybe it will give you guys the final answer that you already know was always there all along......There are a couple of jaw droppers for me in this new info......but you decide.....& one of these things will make you a little mad I'm sure....
Oh & while I did find a way to get the answers I said I'd try to get.....My NAMM trip was always about meeting my favorite players & testing out gear......& that is still going very well.......
More in a few.......
PS-I have an amazing new source that I probably shouldn't mention too....
PSS - I'm also just realizing that this thread was always about Avid & the 11-Rack at NAMM.......I should have started my own w/ my pictures......So I'll stop posting all the pics & updates & just keep this about the 11R at NAMM....& then this thread will stop dead in it's tracks!!!!
No one is working on any kind of an update at all on the Eleven Rack.....Or has been working on anything since the last EXP pack........ This is a fact!!!
Avid lost a lot of it's work force & the major one being Chris Townsend who developed the Eleven Rack Amp Models.......(we all already know this though)
The Amp code process (Amp Models & FX) as I'm told is VERY unique to the team (aka person) who created it.......& the process in which it was developed.......
A new person or team would have a hard time just starting in with more updates as I'm told by my secret source...........
Avid will never say that this is a dead product........
So.....Please take these facts & process that however you need to......
Here's the NEW information that had my jaw hit the floor a bit......
When Chris was developing this he was VERY picky about the amp modeling and end quality........He did not settle at all in this regard........& would not!
There are already a bunch more Amp models already modeled by Chris for the Eleven Rack......It was part of the original process.....Pick a bunch of amps & model them up & release them.......but to keep the quality high......Only the ones we have were tweaked till they were/are perfect in Chris's mind........These other amp models are sitting somewhere at 80% to 95% or something like that.......I was told that there were a lot more amp models too.....fwiw
This info should only tell you in the end that we need Chris Townsend & what did Avid do? Oh yea.....They let Chris go......
So.....Lets stop all the update talk now.....This is the product that we have & it is still a very good product........& will not be updated.....
On a side note here's a picture of a new/old friend of mine......Remember this guy? He's a great player & just a very knowledgable guy in the modeling world!!!!
So can we get Chris buddy to help us update the other missing amps ?a stretch i know?
Never say never, but I would have to say "No"!
If this was ever going to happen it already would have.......That ship has sailed & moved on.......This is a good, but dead product......Enjoy it for just how awesome it is or move on like others have & buy another brand modeler for $1,500 to $2,000.......
X-Mann: Hmmm, so how does this information gel with them not providing a standalone editor? If you're telling us because no one has worked on it, then The Chimp and other Avid staff over at Avid's Audio Forum are simply a bunch of liars, and have just been stringing us all along? For what reason? So that they don't have to publicly proclaim it a dead product? Why would Avid's Pro division hold onto the 11R and not just farm it out to another division since nothings being done with it anyway? This all could have been done at that last major shakeup at Avid. Some of this still doesn't add up. So I guess we can assume Chris signed a non-competitive agreement with Avid somewhere along the way with Avid.

My information is 100% in regards to an expansion pack of any kind.........& that alone........
No one would say a thing about a stand alone editor in any way shape or form......So I posted what I did find out about new amp models and FX........
Who knows......Maybe they have a whole team working on a stand alone editor right at this very minute?
I have more detailed information, but I summed up the hard points of what I was told from my source.... He told me where his source came from too.......but I don't think that's important here........For the record: I want a new EXP/update w/ more amps & FX & a stand alone editor too......Who wouldn't?
But in the end I don't care at all.......As it does not effect me at all.......I've loved the 11R from day one & still do......it does everything I need and want it to do & more.....I use it every day & have no problem with the PT editor either......
I'm just passing along the information I obtained today........
On a side note I met, got pictures & talked to the following people today:
Greg Koch, Andy James, Frank Hannon of Tesla, Pete Thorn, Camine Appiece, Seymour Duncan, Kevin Dillard, Neil Zaza (Again), Blues Saraceno (again) & more random hotties too!!!!! Saw Shinedown last night & was front row.....So yea....There's another hundred pictures & more video.....
Oh & the gear that I tried today was just SO cool & fun to play too........
NAMM is SO worth the trip if you can ever get an invite........Just sayin!!!!
Here's a celeb that I got to hang with that might look familiar to you guys.......Mr. Kevin Dillard aka Inteli-shredd......
While we were talking about gear & players I saw Blues & his dad Alex walking in the main doors behind Kevin w/ a lot of other people.....& well....I yelled "Blues" & Kevin & him chatted & took pics together for a bit...Way cool & funny!!!!
Well..better news than we expected right? 11R still rocks the friggin' Casba and I will always have it..of course, now that they are worthless, there is no way to get rid of it anyway! ahhahaha
Just kidding..that is true, but I love it and will always keep t and try to learn better how to use it!!
Hope you keep on havin fun dude!! Thanks for all the info and looking forward to LOTS more pics!
I know Chris probably has these amp models stashed away somewhere. If he released them without charge, like say the unofficial firmware for digitech 1101 is released, could he get in trouble? And even if new models are not possible I hope that means user IRs could still be possible. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks to all for their updates whilst checking out NAMM/Gear/Chicks and beers.
By the looks of things, this is one place I'd love to get the chance to go to.
As for our beloved Eleven - I think I might end up buying a torpedo cab this year and trying that out with it. Can't stretch for a Kemper £££ and with all the recent work put in by Bzer,Singtall and others the Eleven does have a new lease of life.
No thanks to Avid though, it's just one stall and slow-down after another. My main reason to look at other modellers on the market is the SUPPORT they get from their companies - Look at the updates for both the Kemper and Axe FX....and AFAIK they are free...
The Orange box is an AWESOME product, and will continue to be so - but Avid have shot themselves in the foot, dropped the ball and it looks like they can't gather any momentum now.

Couldn't agree more. The sad thing is avid could have charged for another update or two since the first exrp and most every eleven rack user would have jumped on it. The Kemper looks so tempting being that you can add new amps anytime you want and they now made an IR converter. Wish I had the money to spare because I would be all over it. Really don't understand avid's logic, especially how Max and Chris have strung as along this whole time. I have lost the hope I had, and I was really excited about namm. Don't get me wrong the eleven is great, but it could be even better.
X i think u have even out done yourself this time! No question u have sleeping with a smile on ur face from all the excitement.
You are a natural bro, i think u could have been a great reporter! Feel free to spam us with more goodies when u have time. Like Corey said Please start having fun!

Thx Rich......The videos I have are EPIC front row performances by my top guitar players......I've got Stevens, Zaza, Andy James, The Shinedown concert & well.......More.....
Saying "I made the most of NAMM 2013" is an understatement & then some!!!!!!
I did find the perfect hot rodded Marshall style amp head for a cool Australian company that I'd just love to own & they had a killer fuzz pedal too.......
So can we get Chris buddy to help us update the other missing amps ?a stretch i know?
If it's like the company I worked for, all propitiatory information is the property of the company unless spelled out expressly in your individual contract. Which 99% of the time means NO. There is that 1% that sees the future.
Well, on the MPC1000 a former Akai developper left and wrote the amazing JJ OS firmware that triple the MPC features... From good device, it became an amazing device. There might be a deal between JJ and Akai, I don't know... But it would be nice if something like that could happen on the 11R with Chris.
I would like to say something at this point. First off, I'm not saying anyone can't complain, that of coarse, is your right, but with what we know now, WHY? it is what it is. Over the years I have owned so many amps, guitars, modelers, Just a few here(hd500, zoom g9, GSP1101, gsp2101, Zoom g7, gnx3000, All Boss gt series since the GT6, Fender, Mesa, Vox, Tubeworks) I could go on and on. I'm 53, so I have been at this for awhile. My point is that I haven't had the 11r that long, but I knew from the first time I fired it up, there was something special there. If it NEVER gets another update, editor, or anything else, IT IS STILL (IMHO) ONE OF THE BEST PIECES I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE TO PLAY. So, lets help Bzer and anyone else kind enough to take up there time to do slight improvements or whatever else can be done. Complaining at this point, is simply a waste of time and energy. Lets move on and try to improve what we can.
Overall I agree with your statement roachone. However, you need to realize that a number of us are pretty pissed with Avid! We've been strung along for almost 2 year now with promises of further development, and in the end it was all just outright deception on their part!

I wanna thank you guys for updating us LIVE like this, we ALL wanna be at NAMM and thanks to you we kind of are!! that's how I feel anyway! I went to the Musikmesse at Frankfurt two times, so I know the general vibe, but NAMM has got to be a whole new level. I am excited about it every year ( same as the NBA all star game LOL) but this year I'm like part of it with you, so ROCK N F'ING ROLL!!

Misfit, I know Exactly how you feel bro. Digitech did the exact same thing with me on the 1101. They even sent me emails telling me an update was on the way any day now. Never happened. Jeez, just writing this still pisses me off when I think about it! In the end an outsider came to it's rescue. Let hope something on those lines happens with the Eleven Rack.

X; awesome pics man, thanks!! Pete Thorn is one of my favorite gear reviewers on youtube. The man is a real pro and knows how to do a demo, I'm a big fan. I love those Timmons guitars too. I definitely wouldn't mind getting one of those one day. Thanks for all those killer updates.
Ok......This was my major moment......I had so much time w/ Neil Zaza at the Carvin booth that I thought a restraining order might be taken out........
Neil is the kindest, coolest, most melodic shredder of all time for me......Just classy all around......

You know what makes me smile each time, X-Mann? Seeing you rocking out with all these famous guys and gals - look down and their's your laminate with 'TIMOTHY' on.
Kick-@ss - in the best possible way - glad you are having/had a cool time with all the new gear - one year, we should organise an 11R meet-up at such an event, even if we stage a mass protest @ the Avid stand :P

Well I believe the situation was that akai contracted jj to work on the mpc and they never ended up paying him so he just kept the code. I am not sure how the 1101 situation works though.

+1000 to what Riffmagus said! THANK YOU X-Mann for all of the great posts, pics, and insights. It almost felt like being there with all the great pics you shared. That is a serious amount of killer musicians you met!! It sounds like a big party with lots of gear - what's not to like
A big thank you also for taking the time to speak with Avid staff. I of course hoped for a different outcome, but you confirmed what I have suspected about Avid and their moving on from the 11R. I honestly think the company will regret the decision in the long run. It seems they cut some talented people and are losing out on growing the 11R.
Like others have said in this thread, Avid's decision doesn't change how I feel about my 11R. I have gigged it for over a year and it has not let me down yet - killer tones and effects that sound great to me. For the price I paid for mine new, it's still an incredible value for the money compared to any other preamp out there. Maybe one day I'll get another preamp, but with lots of gigs already lined up for this year, I can't see messing with what has worked so well so far: PRS - 11R - Mains - EV Powered Monitor = WIN \m/ Rock on!!
NAMM is something I always dreamed of attending...to check out the latest cool gear...party down and eye-molest the hotties....and meet some of my favorite guitarist...AND YOU'RE DOING IT BRO!
Glad that your having a blast though....
X-Mann = WINNING!

Here's the warm-up Neil did right before his 5-song demo at the Carvin booth........This is all done thru Amplitude on Neil's PC & then direct to the Carvin PA.......Not the Legacy sitting there....fyi....He did all of this cold & my jaw hit the floor & it only got better from here.......Enjoy some Za!!!!!!! \m/ \m/
Just gave it a quick whirl, and it honestly was disappointing. Maybe you have to tweak the hell out of it, but Best amp modeler out there? Wow!
All I know is what the man said & here's a copy word for word.....I heard his tone up close & in person & it was just killer......It was only one Rig though.....
X-Mann, I'm not doubting your words just a little taken back by his claim. To each their own. I'm anxious for some others here to give it a try and post what they think. There's a demo available. Granted, a great player can make anything sound good, but I still didn't think Ampkit sounded that good out of the gate! Anyway, Neil seems like a real down to earth nice guy, and that's great to see! I'd say it's obviously a real tribute to Neil's playing that he made Ampkit sound so killer!

I menton Steve Stevens & he says that he's played with him.....& that he played on the Hendrix tour.........
So finally I'm like "what's your name"?
& he replies....."My name is Eric Gales"!
I was watching Namm clips all night on Youtube and I stumbled onto your boy! I see why he played on the Hendrix tour....he plays guitar upside down the way Hendrix did!
Amazing stuff X! I'm droolin over the orange Ibby JS, wow.
I'm right there with you bro! IDK if you saw the orange Satch guitar with the black rally stripes on Guitar Player (i think) magazine a while ago, but ever since then I wanted an orange guitar!

X-Mann.... I'm speechless. These pictures are supremely awesome and thank you very very, much!!! I've been liking the seafoam green prestige Jems, but that crazy black one with the colored floral pattern just stole my heart. I love my Jem 7V-WH for sure, but I've always wanted a vintage 777, and that new black floral model kinda has that vibe to me. Thanks again man. What a killer share!
X-Mann certainly knows how to do the old networking trick!
Lol.....I'm "me" wherever I go.....The things I've done on & for this forum, for others here & just the way I live my life.....I try to stay positive & make moments that will last a lifetime.....oh & take lots of pictures along the way.....& if I like a product (the 11R) or a player (Zaza) I go the extra mile to say so & just like Karma good things seem to come back to me every once & awhile.......
Neil is a player worth the time put in....an Epic talent wrapped in a humble/Kind guy.....What more could you want? Lol

Just scrolling through and reading the news... I just got my 11r in November last year, never even heard of the thing and was looking to get pt10 (poor advertising)and was like "man $699 for software?!?!?" and then there it was!!! I love Orange!!! got it and pt10 for $649 ($639 now) at B&H photo, it is a download and ilock and 11r but it works fine, already had the expansion pack installed.
Ive only bought one fx peddle since 92' (MXR Full Bore Metal)because of my ART SGX 2000 Express and still use it still love it and has some of the best sounding FX. I play it strait though the PA, now I will add the 11r to the rack and try as many different ways I can come up with to connect both, most likely use my Morley amp switch to alternate and combine sounds.
The point is that the ART only had one up date and it was a new eprom for 75 bucks never had any more as far as I know and I still use it live.... the 11r will be a very nice addition to my sound.... I did like that little amp they had the 11r mounted in it though, maybe we could come up with a bunch of docking type gadgets like the Ipod has. LOL got ya thinking now HUH?

I've loved this thread for nearly a month now. Thanks to X for making all the guys that didn't get to NAMM feel pissed they didn't get to NAMM ;-)
You are the MANN X
I still haven't even had the time to go thru all of the photos yet........& I've only gone thru a little of the video....The Zaza stuff was just a small taste of what I've got in the "X" archives....The Steve stevens video & Blues Saraceno stuff alone is just KILLER!!!!!! I also have Andy James live along with the Shinedown concert and much more........I just don't have any time due to the new group I'm in at work.....& I started teaching guitar too..............Oh & I'm going to the Tremonti show tonight as well....Not bad for an old Mann right!!!!!!
Don't hate me because I finally went to NAMM.....Just go with me next time!

I loved Hee Haw..brings back great memories of the whole family gathered around the (1) TV in the house on Saturday night and laughing and watching waiting for wrestling to come on!!
Loved Buck Owens and Roy Clark..if I had 1% of the talent those gentlemen had I could be the bestest ever!
