Complete newbie needs some guidance. - 09/15/16 09:41 AM

I've been learning to play for about two years now. Mainly play my acoustic, but as I become more comfortable with it, I want to start to use my electric. I have an 11 rack, but there are so many options it is overwhelming. Could someone advise me on a good preset to play things like pearl jam, AC/DC type stuff? Thanks.

Get the 'Singtall Superpack', he is a distinguished member of this site and has put together a package of artist styled presets that are better than anything you will find in the 11r. I have also had good times with a guy named Benoni's presets, and this site has a free download section too.

But the same preset will sound different from one 11r to the next based on what is going in to the 11r and what the 11r goes out to.
So..
what is your signal chain (guitar, effects, amp, speakers, etc.)? Do you have the free 'Eleven Rack Editor'? Do you use your 11r with a computer?

Signal chain is guitar, 11r, Focusrite Claret PreX, Yorkville 520s. All connected to a mac mini with the 11r editor.

Also, how do I subscribe and have it email me when someone replies to a post?

Ok, I don't have any experience with those speakers, I have used an EV ZLX12p with good results but now I use a studio monitor (Akai RPM800) when at home, as it sounds very close to the sound of the usb into recording software (logic pro x).

I think if you are going for a specific sound that will be tracked later this is the way to go,

otherwise what you have should be fine for now as long as you know that the preset may sound different than it does in the room when it is tracked..

At the top of the thread, there is a drop down section labeled topic options.

Click that and choose add topic to your watched threads. Then go to My Stuff and edit your watched threads to email you immediately when a new reply is added.
