Using DFX Audio Enhancer with Sonar/PT? - 11/27/15 03:50 AM
Anyone ever found a way to record the DFX Audio Enhancer (program that allows you to use EQs & FX on your PC for music, games, etc). The latest one with the new EQ sounds so good, I wish I could utilize it as a plugin somehow. That makes a huge difference in the quality and is such a warm analog sounding EQ, it's quite a bit better than what I could do with say Ozone or anything in the plugin world. Even the Max Recorder they also sell does not record the effect.

Didn't think I would get lucky on this one, but have it figured out. You can download Audacity, and set it up like this:
Driver: WinASPI
Recording: Speakers (Avid Eleven Rack)
Playback: Speakers (DFX)
For some reason, this is what works. So here you have the solution if you want to try this out.
Here's the links for the two programs:

https://soundcloud.com/tltd/home-brewed-dfx-12-ir-on-entire-mix-experimentMade an IR so I could just load it up in Sonar on the mix and not have to mess around so much, it will be a bit different, but retains some of the characteristics and enhancements.

https://soundcloud.com/tltd/20-minutes-of-random-guitar-stuff-dfxdTried the IR over some prerecorded guitar stuff, just to see if it's something I could tweak some cabinets with. Some things work great. Kinda tightens things up and gets rid of the noise, but has a compressed kinda sound in the lows.

Here's another reamp with the Kemper cabinets and I used the DFX Audio Enhancer after I already had as good of a mix as I was going to get. This makes a perfect "analog" summing method to get some extra life out of mixes.
