Listening to the preorder tracks and this is sounding really good. Kinda reminds me of Soldiers Under Command in the sound with better production, Michael Sweet is as good as ever. Whatever they focused on to write Soldiers and Yellow & Black Attack is in there a lot and I'm happy to hear this one. It's a little more "EPIC" too in the vibe, and I like that. Not as crazy about the lyrics, but I like hearing the return to simpler times and doing what they used to do in that also. It's been a hit and miss for a while on albums, but this is good stuff especially if you liked their older stuff.
Michael Sweet's voice is definitely as strong as ever.
My problem is his lyrics. I wasn't a huge fan of Stryper back in the day, but I bought the Sweet and Lynch album, which was very good, musically. But, the lyrics seem like he let a 7 yr old write them.
So, now when I hear anything new from them, I immediately pay attention to the lyrics. He doesn't worry too much about rhyming his lyrics. For me that takes me out of the song(s)
Stryper has always been one of my all-time favorite bandsI like the heavy stuff more than the ballads but those are good sometimes as well. It definitely sounds good on this, and is good to see them still making music and of course doing it for the Lord.
I found this after watching the video of the other song...
Great video. I'm really loving this fullon Stryper comeback. Following the Stryper Freaks Facebook page and seeing a lot of pictures throughout the years and shares from Tim & Michael's pages a lot lately. Now the album is finally out. It's just great. The whole thing.
