Mac OS x won't connect to my eleven

I have a mini mac server running osx 10.8.5. The OS appears to see the 11 but when you look it up on devices it shows it as not being connected. It is plugged directly into a USB port on the mac and the cable works with other devices and new cables have the same issue. I'm running software ver. 1.2.2 but I'm not sure of the firmware version as I don't know how to find it. I'm using Studio One 2 Artist and my Mbox 2 works fine. Since the OS isn't seeing the 11 or my yamaha MoX8 I'm kinda dead in the water. Any advice would be helpful

try reloading the Mac drivers for the 11r

I did but it had the same effect. I will try setting it up as a midi/audio device in OSX.
