Sweet & Lynch - 03/03/15 03:47 AM

Was just browsing around pedal demos on Youtube & saw this. This is some guitar Heaven right here. Not the typical Lynch tone, but some good stuff. Didn't even realize what Sweet & Lynch was before today.

Another interesting tone/tune, with George Lynch on a strat.

WOW...nice find. I didn't know that they were collaborating either.

Personally I liked this Lynch collaboration way better, just wish that they had done more then just push out the album and move on....

BTW, Eddie Trunk is a good way to keep up with our 80's musical hero's, either via his Sirius Radio show on Mondays or his Podcast: http://podcastone.com/Eddie-Trunk-Podcast or his website. Thats how I found out about this project:

I've been listening to this album (Sweet and Lynch) for the past few days. George Lynch's playing is as good as ever. The man still has it I was never a big Michael Sweet fan, but the dude can sing.

The album is a mixed bag. Great playing, great singing. But the lyrics in some of the songs are horrendous. Some remind me of crap I wrote when I was just starting writing lyrics. There's even some shoe-horning.

It's a good album, but it gives you the feeling of what might have been if the lyrics were better.

I was a bit worried about Lynch for a while there. He did a couple of episodes a guest guitarist on The Metal Show, and on one of those episodes, he was terrible. I dunno if he was overly nervous or what the deal was, but he looked lost or like a guy who had not picked up a guitar in 20 years!

Yessir, there sure have been a few! It's funny cause I had the same worry after seeing Jake E Lee too..thought that he may have been away too long.

Lynch and his new stuff has be mesmerized. He is in thirteen er something bands and puts out a new album about every sixteen hours. Not all the greatest stuff, but really good stuff in each one. His playing is great as well.
I ran into him not too long ago and he simply said; "Ya gotta do this just to pay the house payment anymore. I got a royalty check the other day and it was less than the stamp they put on the envelope. The music scene sucks right now."

Never really thought about the lyrics haha Yeah, all I have to say is vocalists and their projects...James Labrie even threw me off quite a bit with the direction he took. I think vocalists do a lot of karaoke on the side and watch American Idol & Glee want to appeal to the pop & radio crowd.

I prefer Sweet & Lynch over all the other Lynch related projects (since the 90s anyway), but I always liked Stryper & Michael Sweets albums. Sweet & Lynch is an interesting mix of Stryper's older stuff, Sweet's newer stuff, Lynch's early and later stuff. It's kind of cool to hear those mutes coming from someone who isn't Michael Sweet or Oz Fox. Sometimes they get sneaky and Michael & even Oz play guitars on some of these, but I think Lynch gets to play Oz here & I like the way it turned out. Stryper & Sweet have been drifting away trying to get things back to the good ole days and this brought some energy back kinda like Richie Kotzen playing for Poison did, but again I loved them before that so it had a greater impact on me than a lot of people.

I need this tone!!! I know one of you tweakers out there can do it!!! It sounds great in the rhythm and great in the lead parts..... jump to 5 min in to the video and listen till the end. it sounds quite different from the tone in the first song he plays. Yes I am serious Please make a preset!!!

Ive always loved stryper not so much the ballads though. was listening to the eddie trunk interview from february with michael and he was saying that he is working on a new stryper album and it was going to be way heavier than any thing they have ever done and I can't wait for that!!!
