Had surgery on my right Achille's tendon over the weekend. I was trying to get in shape after a long Winter that threw me off quite a bit, so I was playing basketball and was getting pretty good again and pushed it too hard and ripped that thing pretty bad. Gonna be a while before I walk on it, probably a month, then a few months of breaking it in. The whole year is kinda shot on making my fitness goals, but not really sad about it or anything. I think it was God's way of saying slow down and maybe something good will come of it as I was going to go out on the road trucking again and wasn't sure if that was a good idea after gaining so much weight last time.

Anyway, it wasn't a life or death surgery but it's made me think about the people I love and appreciate in my life and you guys have been a part of my life for a few years now. I consider a lot of you the kind of friends I need to keep in my life. It's been a blast.

I have one word of advice, try and love what you have and enjoy it while it lasts and don't always wish you had something better. Life's too short.

I hope that you feel better soon.
Wise words, I am also at this period of life where it's hard to keep up with the kids. And it can be painful too...

Yeah, I turned 50 in February and I can't do what I used to do.
But I remember this scripture and say "That's what I need Lord!!!"
Job 33:23-25
23“But if an angel from heaven appears—
a special messenger to intercede for a person
and declare that he is upright—
24 he will be gracious and say,
‘Rescue him from the grave,
for I have found a ransom for his life.’
25 Then his body will become as healthy as a child’s,
firm and youthful again.

Hang in there brother and God Bless, We will be praying for you!

Hi Greg,

Very good thought/points; I consider you a very good friend and will keep you in my prayers too.

jaminjimlp, very special verses man; I've read Job in the past but I didn't remember those verses - thanks for sharing them my friend.

Take it from me;
Learn to live and love every minute. A torn heel can make time for quality time with the family, or with the guitar and recording. Some of my best recorded work is when life told me to slow down and smell the roses by an injury or disease. Also patience. You will learn to look back and see the down time as very small in the scheme of things. Like looking back at high school. No one knew you would ever see the outside of those walls, and now you can't remember them.
Also learning the wisdom that the only thing that matters at the end of this all is how we treated other people. That is the true measure of a man.
I hope all goes well with the recovery.
