Hey all

The more time i spend with my new 11r the more i seem to gravitate towards a very few amps. I seem to end back up at the bogner red, ms-30, and the tweed bass.

Just wondering if anyone else here has the same thing, i can't seem to branch out and explore new amps.

example: The lead 800 just sounds tinny and awful to me, every other amp so far has turned me off.

I love the DC Modern SOD by Avid... it may be my favorite on the entire thing, I also use the Solandro drive which can create a nice glassy overdrive... I love all the Mesa's for heavy stuff.. I tend to use the AC30 and Twin Reverb for cleans to beginning breakups ..

I agree with you on the 800 but with some work it can really pay off... I was close to giving up on it but was working on a Led Boots Jeff Beck rig and used the 800 and got it sounding really great ....

Soldano SLO100 ..all day... all night.. every day.. every night. I seldom use anything else.

I started out using mostly the bogner and SLO sims, but lately I've gravited heavily towards the SOD and M2.

MS30, M2, and Black SR and toggling the TS model. These 3 cover pretty much every sound I need.

I also run a Visual Sound Drivetrain in front sometimes, mainly because of the lower output pups in my Hagstrom.

jcm800. but you can't use it as-is, you have to use an eq up front to fix the nastiness.

MS-30, J45, Plexiglass and Plexi Vari are my favorites. I also like S100-Crunch, DC Modern 800 and Lead 800. I never use any distortion/OD pedals.

Understanding how the real amps work is the key to get a really good sound out of any amp.

Sadly I've never owned any of the amps in the 11R... wish I had.

I'm working more to get the Plexi/Vari/50 to bend to my will. I'm close on those... but I find myself staying in the JCM800 camp overall.

My faves are the Plexi 50, JCM, Mark II, and Bogner Blue

I like to vary the Boost knob of the Bogner with an expression pedal, via the Multi FX function. Try doing that with a real Bogner Ecstasy, which if I'm not mistaken, doesn't have a boost knob, but a switch instead. I could use Bogner Blue for an entire gig.

I highly suggest the Mesa Mark and the Bogner sims, and you cannot forget about the Variac plex!
