For the Christmas season, (and for a bit of extra cash), I've been doing part-time hours at a local music store.

The other day, a friend of mine who does film scoring and jingles (his stuff has been on Lost, CSI, and a few other shows and commercials) came into the store to pick up a few things, and we got to talking. He said he had an 11R and loved it, but because it didn't work well with his other interfaces (couldn't use them simultaneously), he was going to sell it (he was past the return limit at the dealer).

At this point, I'm on my third 11R (the first had the "clock" issue, and the replacement had a weird ground\hum thing - let's hope #3 holds up), so I decided to grab his as a backup - at $600 lightly used vs ~$900 new, I figured I'd be a fool not to.

So now, I have a very festive looking rack, and no worries should anything go iffy with this third unit... smile

Now you can do fun stuff like....

Running your guitar into the first unit, sending a copy of the raw guitar from "amp out" to the input on the 2nd unit. And then run 2 different amps at once!!!!

Would it be possible to record simultaneously in PT two tracks of 11R with different amps? I was just thinking the other day about it....

If you have 2 11R, then yes. Set it up like I said in the post above. Then use the first 11R as your interface. Then run the 2nd 11R's outputs to the line inputs on the 1st one, and then you can record:

Dry guitar
11R 1 L
11R 1 R
11R 2 L (via line in)
11R 2 R (via line in)

No, you can't embed the settings from the 2nd 11R, but at least you can record them both!

Ya know, now that I think about it, 2 11R's would use the same driver.... which means there's a possibility that you can run 2 of them at once on the same computer..... and there is definitely the possibility that a driver could be written on windows to allow this, just like identical Echo Audio devices can be chained together and run on a single driver.

Might be worth a try....

Makes sense. A driver is only a translator - software that facilitates communication between the OS (or specific software) and a piece of non-native hardware. You don't NEED two drivers to use two of anything. As silly as it is, you can run two monitors and three mice and four keyboards on the same computer if you want, but they will not be independent; they will all share the same task. You need a way to differentiate between the two hardware devices, and for that it may simply be a matter of loading the same driver twice. Problems may crop up if the two instances of the driver conflict somehow (memory address, etc).

But, it can't hurt to try. One of three things will happen: either it won't work at all, it'll only recognize one of the 11Rs, or it will recognize them both and run perfectly.
