Well, my kid's got himself a job and buying his own guitars. I got to play around with his Jackson JS22-7 today and sounds pretty badass. Also got the Ownhammer Multi Speaker Collection. Surprisingly, it's still the trusty Chinese v30 that I like & it's definitely better with this guitar than the previous incantation.

I have a JS22-7. Sounded pretty good with the stock pickups in it. Dropped a Nazgul / Sentient in it, strung it up with Dunlop Heavy Cores and that thing kills.

Yeah room for upgrades, especially the tuners. don't know what strings are on it, but they feel way too light.

Saw a video on the Nazgul / Sentient pickups and sounds great.

I'm sure he'll want to be trying those. This already has a Loomis kinda sound to it, but something's "not there" but in a good way if all you want to do it riff around I suppose.

Planet Waves lockers my friend. Buy a 3 + 3 set and D'Addario will send you the 7th one free. Just shoot a pic of the headstock along with the box of the tuners you bought, email it to them and they'll ship it to you, postage paid.

I like the Dunlop Heavy Core 10-60 set. I tried Blue Steels and D'Addario Xl's and neither one really did it for me. Both of them just seemed to lack the depth and thickness of tone I was looking for. I don't tune down so that might make a difference.

This was the tune that convinced me to get a 7. That tone just kills, in my book anyway.

We're loving the way this Pegasus pickup sounds...

Mrs. Rain has an older Jackson, probably a lower end soloist, that she says I need to get running and either play or sell. I'm seriously considering a Pegasus /Sentient combo for it or possibly a fairly moderate gain Seymour set, not sure on it tho.

I dig Merrow's stuff big time. Dude gets just stupid good tone no matter what. I'm fairly jealous of his fingering technique as well, probably as much because mine sucks so bad as anything else. Oh well, more to work on!

Was using my Yamaha Pacifica 1221MS with Tonezone & Air Norton pickups, but the other preset I made with it before I tested with the 7 string guitar, so should be usuable just as well.

Here's a "better" matching lead preset, also wearing headphones right now though, but seems like it blends in better than the other lead preset.
