Hi,
what amp are you using to record vocals with the eleven rack?
I've tried some today but couldn't get a clear sound...

Thanks for your help

Would you need an amp? I've never seen a singer sing thru a guitar amp in real life, although I'm sure a few have done so drunkenly.

Get the Expansion pack, there's vocal presets. Then it's just a matter of the right mic. You have phantom power and a built in Focusrite preamp so lots of options. You could take any preset, disable everything and add a compressor & reverb or experiment however you want to. There might be some cabs that sound cool, never tried that.

I was told FR makes all preamps that have the Digidesign name on it. That was after the school I go had Digidesign help them set up the Icon and several mixing booths. To keep in perspective, the one in the rackmount that goes with the Icon is about $3000, so I have no idea what the built in ones compare to or why they don't proudly advertise but with the right mic they pick up so well if you watch the proximity you can get great sounding vocals. Lean back a little before you belt out a chorus or (scream).

Ya, some of the high end units like the old Control 24 have Focusrite Pre's in them.... I'm pretty sure the 002/003/11Rack stuff does not, but of course I could be wrong. I figure they would be bragging about having Focusrite Pre's in all of their units if they were there. sick grin

I wish I could get my hands on some Digi schematics so I could see for myself what's going on in the Analog stages.....

I just found a manual of an MBox that says "MBox is a 2 channel USB audio peripheral characterized by Digidesign and Focusrite performance."

Next paragraph rants on about "featuring acclaimed Focusrite Mic Pres..."

What do you think now? smile

Ah, which Mbox though? I remember hearing one of the early ones DID have Focusrite Pres in it. lol

I should just call up Avid and start asking tons of questions about the 11R and other 003 gear and see what happens. grin

Not sure, but my one of my teachers who is very insistent whether he's right or not says they still make the pres. He also thinks that Cakewalk went out of business, we got into over that one lol.
