Paul Gilbert Rig

Pickup Position: Bridge Pickup Type: Single Coil
Requires Expansion Pack: Yes
Artist: Paul Gilbert
Author: Ross J Johnson
Comments: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lHFeogmnuQ

after watching the video, i just had to have that rig...well maybe not the crazy flanger, but everything else was cool.

watch the video for how to use it like he does, but here it is in a nutshell:

you need single coils for this preset. i set up a graphic eq at the start of the effects chain to help convert humbuckers to single coils, but it just ain't the same.

1) the basic tone you hear when you first start up the preset is his base tone. good for most hard rock stuff.

2) engage the compressor and chorus for heavenly clean sound.

3) kill the compressor and chorus, but turn on the distortion pedal for heavier tone. add delay for lead if you like.

i am pretty happy with this preset, and it was cool to see how Paul gets all of those tones from one amp channel and a hand full of effects.

enjoy.

Peace of Mind

Pickup Position: Bridge Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No
Artist: Boston
Author: mikefont
Comments: Here is my rig for the rhythm guitar from Boston's 'Peace of Mind'. Tom Scholz guitar almost sounds like he kicked in a wah wah pedal in the toe down position to get an almost nasally midrange tone, so I tried to cop that using 2 EQ's in the rig chain.
I used my Les Paul on the rig, and the rig is...
Volume>Wah>Graphic EQ>SL100 Drive>Classic 30 cab>Dyn 7 mic off axis>Graphic EQ>reverb

Adjust to your guitar and enjoy!
Mike

Peavey 6505+

Pickup Position: Bridge Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No
Artist: Peavey 6505+ Amp
Author: Benoni
Comments: I used samples from the Peavey website, loaded them into Pro Tools and put a Waves PAZ Analyzer on them so I could get the frequencies really close..... BUT without a parametric eq with Q control in the Rack, i could not get them as close as I wanted to. I could do it with another plugin, but that would defeat the point of sharing a preset.

Lead 800. Cond 67. 4X12 Classic. Green distortion. EQ. Reverb. Used a ESP LTD EC-1000 with EMG's. Tuned to Drop B.

Perfect Death Metal

Pickup Position: Bridge Pickup Type: Humbucker
Requires Expansion Pack: No
Artist: Trent Holeman
Author: Trent Holeman
Comments: This is a great tone that can be used for pretty much any style of death metal. It is a well balanced tone that can also give a great lead tone when on the neck pickup.

I am running a full set of Kent Armstrong Motherbuckers in my Ibanez RG. They're a high output pickup. Tweaking may be required.
